The Year In Review

1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?

Bought a house. Ended a long-term relationship. Went to the mid-west. Watched my sister get married.

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

Honestly don't know if I made any last year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Not exactly close, but Rebecca. A friend in Florida also had a daughter.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Luckily not.

5. What countries did you visit?

Just the U.S., but did make it to Chicago this year. I think that's it. Bigger and better next year.

6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you didn't have in 2011?

I'd like to have a consistently clean house, a fantastic boyfriend and confidence in myself to get what I deserve from life.

7. What dates from 2011 will be etched upon your memory, and why?

March 11th and 18th.

8. What was your biggest achievement of this year?

I don't really have a large achievement this year sadly. Wow, this list is getting fairly lame isn't it?

9. What was your biggest failure?

Oh now failures, there were lots of those. Failed relationship, things screwed up at work, just lots.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

I did not, knock on wood.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

Plane tickets to Kirsten's wedding. My house (well, the 20% that I own anyway). All purchases at Victoria's Secret because let's face it, sexy underwear can make you feel sexy on the worst of days. Running shoes and gear.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Diego's.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

Diego's.

14. Where did most your money go?

Bills. House payments. Moving costs. Amazon.com.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Oh cat balls. Clearly 2011 wasn't the best thus far...

16. What song will always remind you of 2011?

Any of Lady Antebellum's songs that was played overandoverandover again on the radio.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer?

Happier: no
Thinner: unfortunately, the same
Richer: see part 1 of #1

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Everything.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Bitching about the past. What is is.

20. How did you spend Christmas?

The usual: Christmas Eve at my aunt and uncle's house, Christmas day at my parents.

21. Did you fall in love in 2011?

Nope, just out of it. Kind of.

22. What was your favorite TV program?

Modern Family, Suborgatory, The Office (the re-runs)

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

Nope. Not that I know of.

24. What was the best book you read?

Water for Elephants

25. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Don't ever try to discover, just listen to what I like.

26. What did you want and get?

Horse that can take me to the jumping arena.

27. What did you want and not get?

Those damn investment jeans. This year, you'll be mine, jeans! (stealing this from Jennie!)

28. What was your favorite film of 2011?

I think the only film I saw in the theater this year was Breaking Dawn Part 1 (I know). Really want to see War Horse, but will likely wait til it's on Comcast OnDemand.

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I turned 26 back in March. Let's hope this year is better.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Boyfriend, dog that could be left alone after work (this is partly my fault because I feel incredibly guilty to leave him after I've been gone all day), not worrying about everydamnthingallthedamntime.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept of 2009?

Cute on special occassions, eh at work. I have got to change that.

32. What kept you sane?

A few certain people who know who they are.

2012

So I decided that I want to do something big, for me at least, every month this coming new year. Here goes:

January: Finally get over Andrew, move on and find a man that loves me for me, get off my ass and start moving. (Uh, the second part may take longer than a month, don't hold me to it.)
February: Buy a scale, re-take my measurements and *hopefully* take note of a difference.
March: Turn 26...I think this one is big enough.
April: Attend a photography class so I'll be able to take fantastic pictures.
May: Run a half marathon...eek. Get a deep tissue massage afterwords (thank you, Groupon!)
June: Go to Mexico! (Heading out in May, but this rolls over into June so that counts!)
July: Take Miller to a schooling show.
August: Run another half marathon, keep up the running and make it stick in my life.
September: Buy a pair of "investment" jeans. Lord help my credit card and God bless 3 pay days in one month.
October: Celebrate my 3rd year working where I do, earn a raise.
November: I've got nothin'...thoughts??
December: Host another *successful* cookie exchange, bake a few new types of cookies, find meaningful gifts for friends and family, get Christmas cards out.

Old Photos

Was just looking through a bunch of photos my mom ha dug out and is scanning. Can't tell what order they'll post in...

16 the day she came home, 1991
Me driving the boat, probably around 1990
My dad and I in Punkin's house trying to get her to come in, probably around 1989
Looking out from the shop towards where the barn is now, probably 1988-9
Me and Rex who taught me at the ripe old age of 1 how to answer the phone, 1987

Crazy how things change.

Today

Today was a beautiful day in Hobart. Got to hang out with all my boys this morning and not be rushed which was a nice change. Thankfully I work somewhere where when I need a mid-week day off it's accepted. Miller's cultures came back a little off and he's on new antibiotics. Stitches are to come out Friday, but I'm not so sure that's a good idea, so we'll see. I know, not a vet, but always wanted to be one. Bummer that first college biology class kicked my ass and I got a D. Then there was Molly, aka Doodles. She is 14.5 years old and is still my watch dog. It takes her a little longer to get moving, and she's always headed back before I am, but she makes a point to go down to the barn with me and do a quick walk around to make sure all is well. When I am riding in the arena she waits patiently outside the gate, rain or shine, to make sure (I think at least) I am okay. Couldn't ask for a better more loyal dog. Could ask though, for better photos of said dog. Anyway, it was a great morning and so nice to just hang with my boys and listen to them eat on a random Wednesday morning. When I was young, gosh, probably 13-14 years ago way before we had the barn and it was just a 3 stall shed my dad and I would do that once in a while at night. I'd climb up on Suzie our big Morgan mare and dad would sit on Dusty and just listen to them eat. My dad hasn't sat on a horse in probably 10 years, but it's still one of my favorite things to do. More than a few times when we were living at home and Andrew and I had been arguing about who knows what he'd find me sitting on Dusty having used a 5 gallon bucket for a stool. I absolutely love that horse. He's taught me tons and still at the ripe old age of 27 continues to teach me things. Hopefully Miller will still be going when he's 27, holy crap, I'll be 49 then (omg), and will be my barn chair. Only time will tell.

Tonight I was able to watch the other gal who rides Ninja. It was super cool to watch him jump and see him do what we're working towards. Can't wait for that to be him and me out there...soon!!
